Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration | May 7, 2024

Filipino American History Month (FAHM), celebrated in October, recognizes the contributions of Filipinos in the United States. It commemorates the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental U.S., arriving in Morro Bay, California on October 18, 1587. FAHM is a time for reflection, celebration, and education about the history and culture of Filipino Americans. It was officially recognized by the U.S. Congress in 2009. The Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS) proposed the first celebration in 1992.
